Cat Calls II is a spoof movie poster the inevitable sequel to a movie about a cat that makes prank and perhaps somewhat inappropriate phone calls. The inspiration for the original Cat Calls happened when I ran across an old dial telephone. I knew I had to do something with it.
But what to do when that image sells out? Make a sequel, of course! Hey, Hollywood does it, why not me?
Cat Calls II: The Redial follows our phone loving cat through another series of misadventures. Or it would, if it were a real movie. It’s really just a picture, so the action is left up to the imagination.
While on my way home from a vacation, I took the sky background in this picture at a rest stop off Interstate 5 near Yreka, California. I really liked the clouds that day. I doctored them a bit in Photoshop to make the colors more dramatic.
Some of the other graphic elements in the picture are the same as in the original Cat Calls. Why mess with a good thing, right? I did change a few things. With the different colors, I think it gives this picture a look all its own.
While sometimes hard to read, some people have told me that the fine print is the best part. They don’t call it fine print for nothing, right? It reads: “May encourage some cats to make prank phone calls, or maybe just have the urge to gnaw on phone cords. Based on the completely unoriginal screenplay, ‘Dial “P” for Purr’ by Anna Thurbadwan.”
So that’s Cat Calls II: The Redial. Will there ever be a Cat Calls III? Stay tuned…
