This is my pencil box with some of my colored pencils. I have a nice case for them. It usually sits on the floor somewhere. The actual pencils I use live in the box.
More honestly, the pencils live in the box when I’m not using them. When I am using them, they’re usually scattered all over the table.
My nice case is where I keep my supply of spare pencils. Colored pencils have to be replaced often because they get used up in the process of making art. If the colored “lead” breaks inside the pencil, which happens sometimes, they get used up even faster. It’s important to have a supply of spares on hand for colors that are used frequently.
Still, in the furious process of making art, I also usually manage to make a mess. There are pencils everywhere. Fortunately it’s easy enough to gather them up and put them back into the overstuffed pencil box.
